She joined the department in 1981. She received her BA and MA from the University of Illinois and her PhD from Florida State University. She has authored and co-authored articles in the American Journal of Political Science, Social Science Quarterly, American Politics Quarterly, and Experimental Study of Politics. Her current teaching and research interests include urban government and politics, political action, minority politics, women and politics, and research methods.
