- Christina Schatzman (Ph.D., University of New Mexico) joined the department in fall 2005. She specializes in comparative political economy with an emphasis on market reform in Latin America. Her research examines the theoretical determinants of domestic policy making, focusing on the juncture of domestic and international factors in economic reform. Recent research has explored the speed with which developing states realize privatization reform and the character of the state sector in Brazil and Mexico. She has published in the APSA-CP and the Journal of Peace Research. Current research includes a comparative analysis of the determinants of market reform elements and a cross-national study of the impact of protest on market reform.
