Chairperson Search
The Department of Political Science invites nominations and applications for the position of Chairperson. The Department is a major participant in the instructional and research activities of the University and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Its personnel include 28 tenure track faculty and approximately 50 graduate students and 900 undergraduate majors.
The Chair will lead the faculty in shaping and developing the department’s research, instructional, and service programs, including recruitments into several forthcoming faculty openings. The new Chair must be strongly committed to supporting continued improvement in the department’s research standing, promoting growth in the undergraduate and graduate programs, developing interdisciplinary research and teaching initiatives, and enhancing relations within and outside the university community.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Political Science or in a closely related field; be able to demonstrate effective leadership, communication, and administrative skills; exhibit experience with seeking external funding for research projects; and have an established record of research and university and professional service appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of professor. This position is available beginning July 1, 2007. Salary and start-up will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
