    • The Academy for Educational Development is an independent, non-profit service organization committed to addressing human development needs in the United States and throughout the world.

      The American Association of University Women is a national organization that offers fellowships, grants, and awards to promote education and equity for all women and girls.

      The American Council of Learned Societies offers grants to support competitions for dissertation and postdoctoral research fellowships and the Junior Scholars Training Program.

      The American Council of Teachers of Russian offers grants to support 64 graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and young faculty in Russian, Eurasian, or Central European studies for advanced on-site language training or research.

      The ASU Division of Graduate Studies Financial Support Office

      The Community of Science enables individual researchers and research administrators to easily create customized precision searches that alert them to targeted grant information.

      The Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program offers fellowship to outstanding individuals interested in issues of economic and social justice.

      The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, sponsors scholarly research on problems of violence, aggression, and dominance.

      The Huntington Library in Southern California offers short and long-term fellowships to conduct research at Huntington.

      The Institute for Humane Studies assists undergraduate and graduate students who have a special interest in individual liberty. In 1997, IHS awarded over $450,000 in scholarships to promote the study of liberty across a broad range of disciplines, encouraging understanding, open inquiry, rigorous scholarship, and creative problem-solving.

      The Institute of International Education offers grants to support 15 Professional Development Fellowships for
      young professionals in fields related to public service and civil policy in the NIS and Eastern Europe.

      The International Research and Exchanges Board offers grants to support its programs for Individual Advanced Research, including Short-term Travel Grants; Special Projects in Library and Information Service Grants; and Policy Forums.

      The Andrew W. Mellon Fellowships seek to identify and encourage persons who are committed to teaching and have a broad vision of learning.  The fellowships are for pursuing graduate study.

      The National Academy of Sciences offers grants to support four Young Investigator Programs and 20 grants
      for a program on ``Governance in Post-Communist Societies,'' focusing on science and democratization and organized crime, terrorism, and Weapons of Mass Destruction.

      The National Endowment for the Humanities is  a federal agency that supports learning in history, literature, philosophy, and other areas of the humanities.

      The National Science Foundation funds research and education in science and engineering, through grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements. The Foundation accounts for about 20 percent of federal support to academic institutions for basic research.

    The Notre Dame Graduate Fellowships Database, a service provided by The Notre Dame Graduate School.  This listing of  fellowships, grants, and awards is a must-see first stop source for funding information.

    The Playboy Foundation offers a number of grants in the area of personal freedom and human rights

    The Russell Sage Foundation offers support for basic research on selected topics in the social sciences.

    The Smith Richardson Foundation seeks to help inform important public policy debates through the support of
     policy-relevant research, analysis, and writing.  The Foundation has two grant making programs, International Security and Foreign Policy and Domestic Public Policy.   Within the Domestic Public Policy Program the Foundation has two core program areas, Children and Families at Risk and Governance.

    The Spencer Foundation is a private foundation that grants funds to support research which contributes to the understanding of education and improvement of its practice.

    The Social Science Research Council supports a national fellowship program for dissertation completion and for postdoctoral research and a competition for grants to American institutions for language training.

    Third Wave is a national organization created by and for young women to combat inequalities and fight for social justice. Third Wave offers a variety of grants.

    The Tinker Foundation was created in 1959 by Dr. Edward Larocque Tinker. His lifelong interest in the Iberian tradition in the Old and New Worlds directed the Foundation's overall focus on Latin America, Spain and Portugal. More recently the Foundation has included in its mandate the support of projects concerning Antarctica, a region of significant interest on an international scale.

    The Harry S. Truman Library Institute offers grants of up to $2,500 bi-annually which are intended to enable graduate students and post-doctoral scholars to come to the Library for one to three weeks touse its collections.

    The IIE Fulbright Academic Exchange Program offers support for study and teaching abroad.

    The United States Institute of Peace offers support for research, education and training, and the dissemination of information on international peace and conflict resolution on specific themes and topics.

    The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation supports a number of Fellowships in the Liberal Arts and Humanities.

      Capitolwatch  gives daily reports on legislative votes in Congress, plus breaking political news.

      Chronicle of Higher Education has on-line job postings.  These are one week older than the print version, and the rest of this site is subscription only, but this service is free.

      Lexis/Nexis, is available through Hayden Library's on-line catalogue. 

      The AILEENA World-Wide Media Index links to over 5,000 newspaper, radio, and television stations in 174 countries.

      Metaplus offers a quick route to the best directories and selected sites.  A good place to start for internet searches and news.

       Moving Ideas  is a resource for public policy information, jobs, and links.
