Dear Prospective Student:

We are pleased that you are considering our graduate program. All applications are reviewed by our Graduate Committee constituted by current faculty members. Our admission and financial aid decisions are based on a number of criteria. Your application is considered complete when it includes all of the following material:

  1. Three (3) letters of recommendation from people capable of evaluating your political science expertise (Letter of Recommendation Form). A personal statement indicating what area of Political Science you want to study and why. A writing sample that best represents your thinking and writing skills in Political Science or a related subject.
  2. The official results, on the original forms, for the Graduate Record Examination, a set of all your official college transcripts, and, if you are a graduate of non-English speaking university, your official TOEFL results. Please be sure that your colleges and universities forward your transcripts directly to the Graduate Admissions Office, Tempe, Arizona 85287-1003.
  3. A completed "Application for Graduate Admissions" along with the application fee payment. The form is available on the Division of Graduate Studies web page on the ASU web. Also see the letter from Dean Maria Allison. Return this application directly to the Graduate Admissions Office.

  5. If you wish to be considered for financial assistance via a Teaching Assistantship appointment, please note that in the appropriate space on the Department of Political Science Graduate Application Form.

Assistantships and scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis based on the above criteria. The regular deadline for Fall admissions is February 1. Candidates who have submitted a complete application by that date will be notified of their admission by mid-March.
