Upcoming Opportunities

The Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing at Arizona State University and The Centre for Postcolonial Writing at Monash University have agreed to an exchange between students and staff to look for opportunities for creative collaboration between the two institutions.

In October/November 2008, Professor Chandani Lokuge will be invited to ASU to give a lecture and reading and to meet with faculty and students; in March 2009, Monash University will host a visit by Professor Jewell Parker Rhodes for a lecture and reading.

In February 2009, two creative writing postgraduates from Monash will be invited to ASU’s Writers Conference. The students will discuss postcolonial literature and the ways in which this literature influences/affects their writing, and to give readings from their work.

In May/June 2009, the Centre for Postcolonial Writing at Monash University will host 2 students from the Piper Center.

After these 2008-2009 exchanges, Professors Rhodes and Lokuge will consider steps for moving the relationship between Piper Global Engagement and the Center for Postcolonial Writing forward.
