The Jewish Studies
Program offers several Scholarship, Fellowship, and Grant opportunities
for Undergraduate and Graduate level students on an annual basis. These
awards are funded by generous donations to the Jewish Studies Program.

| Harold
Alpert Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to Juniors and Seniors who demonstrate outstanding performance in the field of Jewish Studies. To qualify, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and concentration in Jewish Studies. Applicants must complete and submit the following: a signed copy of your Federal Tax Return, the Jewish Studies Scholarship, Application Form, a one-page statement or plan of research, CV or transcript, and two letters of recommendation. |

| The
Great Students Graduate Fellowship
This fellowship is intended to support graduate student advancement and thesis research. The fund may be used to underwrite the cost of research for an MA thesis or doctoral dissertation, including travel, purchase of necessary equipment, or supplies and language training. The award must be used to pursue an advanced degree with a commitment to the field of Jewish Studies as evident by the thesis or dissertation topic. Awards are made on the basis of academic merit and may be given for more than one year. Applicants must complete and submit the following: Jewish Studies Scholarship Application Form, a one-page statement or plan of research, CV or transcript, and two letters of recommendation. |
| Morris & Julia Kertzer Scholar This scholarship is awarded to Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students engaged in studies about Jews or Judaism. The funds provide a stipend to pursue a research project under the direction of an ASU faculty advisor. The project results must be presented in a public lecture and should then be exhibited and/or published. The awardee is allowed up to one year to complete the project. Candidates must be enrolled at ASU and registered for specific courses in Jewish Studies. Applicants must complete and submit the following: Jewish Studies Scholarship Application Form, a one-page statement or plan of research, CV or transcript, and two letters of recommendation. |
| Seymour
H. Jacobs Memorial Scholarship
The fund was established for the purpose of providing support and recognition to students who have excelled academically in Jewish Studies. Generally intended for research and/or travel related use, the prize is awarded to graduating seniors or graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding performance within the field of Jewish Studies. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must be pursuing a concentration in Jewish Studies. Applicants must complete and submit the following: Jewish Studies Scholarship Application Form, a one-page statement or plan of research, CV or transcript, and two letters of recommendation |
| Research,
Study, & Travel Grant This grant is awarded to students at any class level (including graduate level students) pursuing a program of study involving Jewish Studies. A commitment by the awardee to actively participate in community service in the Greater Phoenix Jewish Community is requisite. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.3 and must be involved with the Jewish Studies Program. Applicants must complete and submit the following: a signed copy of your Federal Tax Return, the Jewish Studies Scholarship Application Form, a one-page statement plan of research, CV or transcript, and two letters of recommendation. |
| Jess
Schwartz Scholarship/Fellowship The funds are designated to be awarded to students involved with the Jewish Studies Program at ASU at any class level, for the purposes of travel, research and study. A minimum 3.3 GPA is required to receive and/or maintain the award. Receipients of the award must participate in community service activities in the Greater Phoenix Jewish community, either through Hillel or other Jewish community service agencies/organizations - as volunteers or interns. The student will be responsible for reporting their service to the Jewish Studies Program. This award may be given for more than one year. Applicants must complete and submit the following: Jewish Studies Scholarship Application Form a one-page statement or plan of research, CV or transcript, and two letters of recommendation. |
Additional
Awards
Additional awards are available for supporting student travel projects and research/study involving the Gerda Klein papers. Students interested in projects that may be funded with these awards should indicate this on their application. Applicants must complete and submit the following: Jewish Studies Scholarship Application Form, a one-page statement or plan of research, CV or transcript, and two letters of recommendation. |
| Benjamin
Goldberg Memorial Scholarship This award is granted to an outstanding student(s) at any class level, actively pursuing a Jewish Studies Certificate as part of their course of study. Applicants must complete and submit the following: the Jewish Studies Scholarship Application Form, CV or transcript, and two letters of recommendation. |
| Cabot
Family Scholarship The funds are designated to be awarded to students involved with the Jewish Studies Program at ASU at the junior, senior or graduate levell, for the purposes of travel, research and study, as approved by the Director of the Jewish Studies Program in consulation with the student's Department Chair and/or advisor. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required to receive the award. Applicants must complete and submit the following: Jewish Studies Scholarship Application Form, a one-page statement or plan of research, CV or transcript, and two letters of recommendation. |
