National Chicano Art Exhibition (1983), features an original image by
one of the best-known Chicano artists, Amado Maurilio Pena, Jr. The

This wall-sized poster (17x22" in red, white , and blue) entitled 
Bilingualism in the Bicentennial and Beyond has pertinent quotes

 and Ernest Hemingway.

Entitled America the Beautiful, America el Bilingue,  full-color, wall-sized
poster (17x22") depicts Hispanic achievements all over the United States
in the arts, the professions, commerce, and industry. It honors the 
major Hispanic writers published over the last dozen years by the
Bilingual Review/Press.

Chronology of Bilingual Education in the United States

Bilingualism and Bilingual Education in the United States: A Chronology from 
the Colonial Period to 1976 (pamphlet).This chronology by Gary D. Keller and
Karen S. Van Hooft covers the colonial period, the Mexican War (1848), the 
language situation with respect to Native Americans, the New Mexico laws of 1897
and 1911, Theodore Roosevelt's chauvinistic policies, the Supreme Court decisions
of 1923 and 1927, the 1940 Nationality Act, the Foreign Language Program of the
MLA, the National Defense Education Act of  1958, the Puerto Rican Study(1958), and
many other important factors in the history of bilingualism in the United States. Special 
attention is directed to events of the past 20 years, in particular to the growth of bilingual 
education in Dade County, Florida; the 1968 Title VII amendment to the Elementary and 
Secondary Education Act; Aspira v. NYC Board of Education (1973); Keyes v. School District no.
1 (1973); and Lau v. Nichols (1974). The chronology includes a bibliography of additional
readings.
