The African Diaspora Reading Group is a collection of faculty and graduate students interested in the all topics pertaining to Africa and peoples of African descent. While the co-chairs are currently faculty members in the History Department, the group is composed of faculty and students from the Department of African and African American Studies (AAAS), the English Department, the Political Science Department and the Department of Religious Studies as well. The group meets on a monthly basis to discuss selected texts on topics of common interest, primarily, but not exclusively recent scholarly discussions of the historical evolution of the African Diaspora. The group sponsors an annual lecture by a distinguished scholar in the field.
