The TrAAcs system is a continuous flow wet chemistry analyzer that
determines analyte concentrations using a colorimeter to detect changes in
color produced by the presence of the analytes. It is typically used for
automated testing of water, waste water and sea water. It is capable of
measuring a wide range of elements, given the appropriate flow cell, filter
and manifold set-up. Currently we are able to measure: Ammonia, Chloride,
Cyanide, Hydrogen Sulfide, Nitrogen (Nitrate, Nitrite, and Total Nitrogen),
Phosphorus (ortho and total Phosphorus), Silicates and Sulfite. It is also
currently capable of measuring acidity (thymol blue), alkalinity (methyl
orange and thymol blue) and hardness of water as a function of CaCO3. The
instrument is equipped with an autosampler for multiple sample analysis. It
can be expanded to allow performance other analyses if necessary.
Resolution, reproducibility and accuracy are all dependent upon the method
in use.
Sample condition at time of analysis is dictated by the particular method
being used. Varying levels of sample preparation will be necessary. All
samples must be free of undissolved material and have a volume of at least
5 ml. Autosampler vials are provided as part of the analysis cost.
