A search-engine based site that searches for online dictionaries that will provide a definition for almost any term you enter.  By clicking on the list of dictionaries, you can focus your search for definitions.

The Exploding Dictionary
Provides both a "clean" straightfoward definition of a word as well as a definition that is cross-referenced and hyperlinked to the max. Both fun and useful.

Information Please
Millions of useful and interesting facts on a wide range of topics online, with dictionary and encyclopedia. This could be a good place to mine for ideas. 

A Student's Guide to Research with the World Wide Web
An extremely useful tutorial guide that covers many aspects of conducting searches on the web.  This site contains information about the anatomy of web pages and conducting successful web searches.
