This tutorial shows you how to set your default save option to the Word 97-2003 format. Open Word. Click on the Office Button (outlined in red)
Click on Options (outlined in red)
Click on Save (on the left) and then change "Save files in this format" to Word 97-2003 (outlined in red) and click OK.
Now your documents will be readable by people with Word 97 through 2003. ©Bruce Matsunaga
