ASU English Home > Computing Support > Workshops and Tutorials > Tutorials > SafeAssignment Using SafeAssignment in BlackboardASU recently implemented the SafeAssignment plug-in for the My.ASU/Blackboard teaching environment. The SafeAssignment plug-in allows the instructor to create assignments using a SafeAssignment dropbox (allows automatic plagiarism detection) or individual document verification with the SafeAssignment Quick Submit tool. Adding a SafeAssignment Assignment: You can add a SafeAssignment just like you add a regular Assignment, first go to the section that you want to add the assignment and click on the Edit View link on the right side of the screen. (Click on an image for a larger version) Choose SafeAssignment in the drop-down menu on the right and click Go. Fill in your assignment information. You can have BB post an announcement at this time also. Click Submit when you are finished. Be sure to check Yes to draft if you are having your students turn in drafts (otherwise the paper will be added to the database). You can use a regular Assignment for drafts, but you might want to use the SafeAssignment Assignment if you want to generate originality reports for your students as a pedagogical tool. Like regular Assignments, you access the papers in your gradebook. You can access the SafeAssignment features via the SafeAssignment MyDropBox Suite located in the Control Panel > Course Tools. There, you can view SafeAssignment reports. View an example SafeAssignment report (you see SafeAssignment missed the bottom section I copied from Sparknotes, but it thinks that using quotes is plagiarizing). For more information on SafeAssignments, including how to use Quick Submit to check a paper individually, see the alt^i Wiki: https://wiki.asu.edu/help/index.php/SafeAssignment Questions?
