Double click on the Outlook icon on the desktop or find it in the Programs menu.

You will see the Outlook Wizard, click Next.

Click Yes to configure your account, click Next.

Select Microsoft Exchange Server from the Server Type list, click Next.

In Exchange Server Settings, type in exchange.asu.edu and uncheck Use Cached Exchange Mode (unless you are planning to use Outlook’s Junk Mail filter), type in your ASURITE or full name and click Check Name. If you do not receive an error, click Next.

In the next window, click Finished. Now start Outlook 2003. Go to Tools > Options.

Click on Calendar Options. Here you can modify how your calendar displays in Outlook. Click on Free/Busy Options.

Change the Publish length to six (6) months and change the Update frequency to five (5) minutes.

Click OK and OK to return to the Options menu.

Click on the tab titled Other. Click on AutoArchive and deselect Run AutoArchive every (AutoArchive will move messages to a local folder automatically). Click OK.

You can customize Outlook to behave to your preferences. For example, you can check Always check spelling before sending (under the Spelling Tab).

You can also choose whether or not you want Word to be used as your email editor and reader under the Mail Format tab. Generally, we do not recommend using Word for either since it uses more resources and can potentially leave you more exposed to Word specific virus attacks. You can also create a signature file on this tab if you so desire.

Most of the other options are best left at their defaults. Click OK and you are finished!
