ASU English Home > Computing Support > Workshops and Tutorials > Tutorials > Setting up Dreamweaver MX 2004's Site Management with a Site file

Download the ASU personal site reference file.

Open Dreamweaver, click on Site > Manage Sites...

Click on Import, select PersonalASUsite.ste from the location that you saved the file, click Open.

Select a local root folder to store your web site (local = the computer you are on now). This could be a folder named "my web site" in your My Documents folder.

When the Site Management window appears, click on Edit.

Click on the tab that says Remote Info and fill in your user information.

Your Host Directory will be "/afs/asu.edu/users/formula for your User ID/www". The formula for your User ID is a rather cryptic formula that uses the first three letters of your ASURITE User ID.

Formula = /firstletterofyourASURITE/secondletter/thirdletter/entireASURITE/

So in the example below, since my username is "hiroshi" I use h/i/r/ then my username, then www.

You can click on the image to make it larger.

Then type in your User ID for Login and your Password. If you are on your home computer you may wish to check the Save box after Password so that you will not have to type your password in each time you use Dreamweaver.

For all ASU sites, you must use the Secure FTP option.

Click Ok and you are done!
