I was born in England, grew up in Canada and received my MA from the University of Victoria, British Columbia. I returned to England where I studied for my D.Phil. at the University of York. I then spent three years as a Research Fellow at St Anne's College, Oxford, before returning to York to teach for a year. I came to ASU in 1998. For the past four years I have been Director of Undergraduate Studies for the English Department. I teach the Survey of English Literature 800-1800, upper division courses in medieval literature, and graduate seminars in my area of specialization. This specialization includes the writings of medieval women visionaries, hagiography, and late-fourteenth century English literature. I am currently co-editing The Yale Guide to Medieval Holy Women, and working on a monograph titled Household Saints, which examines the tension between domesticity and holiness in late-medieval Europe. |
