I research, write, and teach courses on 20th century American literature, particularly literature and humor, literature and popular culture, literature and the Holocaust, literature and the visual arts, and public doublespeak. Recent and current projects include "Thalia Does the Charleston: Humor in the Fiction of F. Scott Fitzgerald" (forthcoming as an article, currently being expanded as a book), "Sehnsucht in 20th Century American Fiction," and "The Devil Figure in 20th Century American Fiction."
