Gitta Honegger comes to Arizona State from The Catholic University
of America, Washington, D.C, where she was Chair of the Department
of Drama. Prior to her work in Washington she was the resident dramaturg
and stage director for Yale Repertory Theater, as well as Professor
of Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism, Yale School of Drama. Her special
interests include theater, performance, German and comparative literature,
critical theory, and women's studies. Among her recent publications
is: Thomas Bernhard: The Making of an Austrian (Yale University Press, 2001). Thomas Bernhard: Was ist das für ein Narr appeared with Propyläen Verlag, Berlin, in 2002. Professor Honegger is also a contributing editor to (Yale) Theater Magazine. She is currently teaching courses in Literature and Science in coordination with the ASU Center for Biology and Society. Her current research concerns the life and work of Helene Weigel, an Berlin-based actress who was married to German playwright Bertold Brecht. |
