My research interests include English and continental Renaissance poetry and drama, classical intertextuality (and specifically imitations of Ovid’s Metamorphoses), the history of emotion, gender studies and theory. I am currently revising a book, tentatively titled “Ovid and the Politics of Emotion in Renaissance England,” that explores how Ovid’s works shaped Renaissance concepts of emotion. I am also co-editing a volume on teaching Ovid and Ovidianism for the MLA Approaches to Teaching series. I teach courses on Shakespeare, Renaissance poetry and drama, and classical backgrounds to English literature. At the advanced level, my courses often focus on Ovid, representations of gender and theories of intertextuality.
