I am particularly interested in the social influences of how we know what we know, and my research and teaching both reflect that interest. My research has centered on how groups within contemporary Western societies develop spaces in which to work and how they attract and educate participants. My dissertation was on an example of that, the human rights organization Amnesty International and its letter writers. Also, I am interested in discussing transactional (social) knowledge negotiations when I teach. My interest really is in the social aspects of rhetorical invention
