Jeannine Savard has published four volumes of poetry: Snow Water Cove (U of Utah P 1998, re-published with Carnegie Mellon UP 2005), Trumpeter (Carnegie-Mellon UP 1993), and My Hand Upon Your Name (Red Hen Press 2005). Her new manuscript of poems, Accounted For, is forthcoming with Red Hen Press,2009 or 2010. She was awarded the Jerome J. Shestack Prize for poetry from The American Poetry Review, the Carnegie Mellon Poetry Prize, and has published poems in a number of journals such as The North American Review, Ploughshares, Hayden's Ferry Review, The American Poetry Review, Manoa, The Kenyon Review, The Southern Review, The Bennington Review, The Antioch Review, Quarterly West, and many more. It has been said of her work that: "[. . .] her delicate lyrical meditations turn quietly both metaphysical and speculative, Jeannine Savard offers us a world made luminous by daily ceremony and spiritual congruence." (David St. John) And more recently: "Her poems are those invitations which shape time. We do not expect them in our lives but when they have come we cannot imagine their absence, or what we could have known of ourselves without them."(Dave Smith) Professor Savard is an Associate Professor of English and teaches both graduate and undergraduate workshops in poetry.
