Soutullo Scholarship
SCOTT SOUTULLO FIRST GENERATION AFRICAN AMERICAN LITERATURE SCHOLARSHIP
of the Arizona State University Department of English
Scott Soutullo established this scholarship in 2007 to support undergraduate degree-seeking students interested in African American Literature and Cultural Studies in the Department of English, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS), ASU Tempe campus. A total of $2500 will be awarded for the fall 2009 semester. This amount may be distributed to one or two students, with the possibility of a first place scholarship of $1500 and a second place scholarship of $1000.
Applicants must:
- be full-time students (enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours) during the fall semester they receive the scholarship
- have earned at least 25 semester hours (sophomore standing); the scholarship is open to students who are sophomores, juniors and seniors
- have a 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average
It is desired that applicants are:
- first-generation college students--the definition of a first-generation college student is that neither parent of the student has earned a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
Note: The donor for this scholarship has a preference for those who are first-generation college students, but others who are not first-generation students are welcome to apply.
