the monster that I am: A Beowulf Lecture and Movie

At 4:00 Dr. Asa Mittman (Art History, ASU) will give a 45-minute lecture entitled “The Monster that I Am: Otherness and Identity from Beowulf (c. 1000) to Beowulf (2007).”

Dr. Mittman has written Monsters and Maps in Medieval England (Routledge, 2006) and he will publish Inconceivable Beasts: The Wonders of the East in the Beowulf Manuscript (co-authored with Susan Kim) with ACMRS in 2008.

At 5:00 Dr. Mittman’s lecture will be followed by a showing of a Beowulf (Zemeckis 2007).
