The English Club

The English Club offers undergraduate students a voice in the affairs and events of the English Department. The English Club will have representatives on departmental committees, offer workshops in areas of interest and concern to undergraduate students, plan social events, facilitate access to funding and awards, and be an effective and visible presence in the English Department and in the university as a whole.

2008 Summer Meeting Schedule:

The English Club will be meeting three times over the summer to start planning fall activities, (a writing contest and a Milton event to name a couple), and also to plan and take a practice GRE exam. Plus, we'll just hang out, eat cookies and laugh at each other a lot in the process. So here are the dates/times/locations for our meetings:

Details on past English Club events, spring 2008:


"Sensual Shakespeare: A Sumptuous Banquet of Sweet Desserts and Erotic Poetry"

As part of the ASU Department of English celebration of William Shakespeare's 444th birthday, the English Club is hosting a reading of his erotic poetry along with a Shakespeare-themed dessert bake-off. The audience members attending the reading will get to sample the desserts and vote for their favorites. 1st Prize is $50.00 in new books and the runner-up will receive a bundle of Deparment of English merchandise. The reading/dessert sampling will take place in LL 316 from 2 to 3 pm on Wednesday, April 23rd. If you are entering the bake-off, please arrive at least half an hour before the event begins.
