Danko Sipka, Ph.D. : Research Associate Professor; Associate Director, Critical Languages Institute

Dr. Danko Sipka is a research associate professor and acting director of the Critical Language Institute at Arizona State University as well as an associate professor of the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland.

He holds a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Belgrade, Serbia and a Ph.D. in psychology from the Polish Academy of Sciences. He was conferred a habilitation in Slavic studies from the Adam Mickiewicz University in 1999; the Habilitation is the highest academic degree in Germany, Austria, Poland, and Czech Republic. Dr. Sipka received the MA in Russian from the University of Poznan, Poland and a diploma from the elite Graduate School of Social Research, Warsaw, Poland. In addition to his education in the fields of linguistics and psychology, he has considerable background in political science attained at five intensive summer schools in this field.

In his academic career Dr. Sipka taught and conducted research at twelve different universities and six high-tech companies in Bosnia, Serbia, Germany, Poland, United Kingdom, and United States of America (including University of Munich, New Mexico State University, Microsoft Corporation, and McNeil Technologies). He has delivered invited lectures and conference presentations in Austria, Bosnia, Croatia, Finland, Germany, Poland, United States, Serbia, and Slovenia. He was advisor for thirty defended MA theses, a committee member for one Ph.D. thesis. He is currently supervising three Ph.D. theses, six MA theses and serves as a committee member for an additional five theses. He has published fourteen books and more than one hundred twenty papers and reviews in Serbo-Croatian, English, German, and Polish. His main research interests include natural language processing, psycholinguistics, lexicography and lexicology, as well as Slavic contrastive, comparative, and historical linguistics.
