Social Insects as a Model System for Evolutionary Developmental Biology
Workshop
April 13-14, 2006
At Center for Social Dynamics and Complexity, ASU
The new Center for Social Complexity and Dynamics at ASU held its inaugural workshop in conjunction with its opening on April 13 and 14 2006. This workshop developed:
- A conceptual and theoretical framework for using Social Insects as model system for Evolutionary Developmental Biology.
- Summarized recent experimental an conceptual work and integrated it into an Evo Devo framework (such as the idea of a reproductive ground plan, of sociogenesis, of organizational transitions-from hierarchical societies to networks, of patterns in division of labor, of models of causation-genetic, epigenetic, environmental and all their interactions).
- Proposed an empirical and theoretical research program to further explore these questions.
