Scholarship applications will be accepted until February 29, 2008.
All selections shall be made by the scholarship committee of The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication.
To be considered for any Communication award, you must:
- Be a Communication Major (except for the Robert and Sue Karatz Forensics Endowed Scholarship).
- Complete the Department of Communication Scholarship/Award Application (may be obtained at the Department Office, Stauffer A412) or by visiting here.
- Submit application along with any required award specific documents before the March deadline (Deadline for 2008 Scholarships is February 29, 2008).

SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
Hugh Downs School of Human Communication Scholars Program
($2000 award: $1,000 fall/ $1000 spring)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative ASU GPA
- Preference to juniors and seniors
- Full-time status
Working Your Way Through School (WYWTS) Scholarship
($2,250 award: $1,125 fall/ $1,125 spring)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative ASU GPA
- Employed at least 15 hours. Full-time student for both semesters of the award
- No family based financial support. Living outside family & supporting themselves
- Must submit financial statement or have it on file in Financial Aid office
Gentleman Endowed Scholarship in Communication
($225 award)
- Minimum 3.0 ASU GPA
- Preference to juniors and seniors; however, outstanding freshman and sophomores may be considered
- Full-time status
Louis and Louise Menk Endowed Scholarship
($125 award)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative ASU GPA
- Preference to juniors and seniors; however, outstanding freshman and sophomores may be considered
- Full-time status
Robert and Sue Karatz Forensics Endowed Scholarship
($225 award)
- Minimum 3.0 ASU GPA
- Preference to juniors and seniors; however, outstanding freshman and sophomores may be considered
- Membership on the Forensics team required
- Full-time status, not limited to Communication majors
Rusty and Rosie Lyon Endowed Scholarship
($575 award)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative ASU GPA
- Preference to juniors and seniors; however, outstanding freshman and sophomores may be considered
- Full-time status
William and Teeny Drakos Endowed Scholarship
($150 award)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative ASU GPA
- Preference to Juniors and Seniors; however, outstanding freshman and sophomores may be considered
- Full-time status
Barnes Pharr Scholarship Endowment
($350 award: $175 fall/$175 spring)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative ASU GPA
- Must be Junior or Senior status during award period
- Full-time status
- Must have a declared emphasis within the major in interpersonal or intercultural communication
House of Broadcasting Inc. Endowment Scholarship
($300 award)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative ASU GPA
- Preference for scholarship selection shall be given to juniors and seniors; however, outstanding freshman and sophomores may be considered
- Full-time status
Dean's Circle Scholarship (Dean's Circle Scholarship application)
($1,000 award)
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative ASU GPA
- Be enrolled full time (12 hours) and maintain full time enrollment
- Be an undergraduate student
- Be a declared major in C.L.A.S.
- Students in a concurrent degree program may be a candidate in both departments. However, a student may accept only one Dean's Circle Scholarship
- Previous recepients of a Dean's Circle Scholarship may reapply
- Financial need may be considered but is not a requirement.
