Student curriculum is determined by the student's catalog year.  Your advisor can help you determine your catalog year.  The guidelines are contained in the ASU catalog under University Graduation Requirements.

A minimum of 120 semester hours of which 45 must be upper division semester hours (300 and 400 level courses) are required for graduation as well as a minimum 30 resident credit hours at ASU Main.

Advising Guides for specific catalog years are listed below.  Hard copies are also available in the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication office, Stauffer Hall room A412.  The Curriculum Check Sheet is an advising form used to assist students in understanding the requirements for a degree in Communication.

DARS

The Degree Audit Reporting System is an automated record which matches courses you have completed with the requirements of a particular academic degree program and is available online through your interactive website at www.asu.edu/interactive.  By checking in DARS, students are able to determine if certain courses meet specific requirements and/or the status of complete and incomplete requirements for their degree.

DOG

Communication requires every student completing 87 credit hours or those students with 87 hours completed meet with their advisor and sign the Declaration of Graduation (DOG).  Appointments are required and should be made early in the semester at the Communication Office, Stauffer Hall room A412 or telephone 480-965-5095 to make an appointment.  Failure to complete the DOG will prevent students from further registration.

Graduation

Students are required to apply or file for graduation their final semester (spring - before March 31, summer - before July 1, or fall - before October 15).  Graduating students may participate in the University Convocation and Commencement ceremonies.  These ceremonies occur only in spring and fall semesters.  (Summer graduates may walk in spring ceremonies or participate in the fall ceremonies.)
