The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University, Tempe Campus, exists to advance the understanding of message-related human behavior for the purpose of improving communicative interactions.  Teaching, research, and service are directed to the continued development of knowledge and the application of communication principles.

The School sponsors nationally recognized co-curricular activities including a competitive Forensic team, a study abroad program every summer to London, Dublin, and Edinburgh, a community-oriented interpreters theatre, and the study of culture through performance.  A wide range of internships also is available to qualified students.   These activities provide additional opportunities for increasing communication skills.
