The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication is currently home to three academic journals.

Journal of Social and Personal Relationships is an international, interdisciplinary journal sponsored by the International Association for Relationship Research. It is currently edited by Dr. Paul Mongeau (Beth Babin Gallagher, editorial assistant), and it publishes empirical and theoretic research on myriad aspects of human social and personal relationships. Western Journal of Communication is a regional communication journal sponsored by the Western States Communication Association. The current editor is Dr. Cheree Carlson (Emily Cripe, editorial assistant). WJC publishes research on all aspects of human communication. Journal of Family Communication is a specialty journal for the field of family communication published by Lawrence Erlbaum Associates.
