APAS Open House
On November 13, 2007, APAS held an open house to introduce the ASU community and the Asian American community in Phoenix to the new APAS offices. Visitors were able to view exhibits which reflected the variety of research being produced by APAS faculty and students. More>>

Nikkei Legacy Project
Karen Kuo, APAS Assistant Professor, attended a meeting of the Nikkei Legacy Project at the Japanese American National Museum. This innovative, collaborative project involves several universities in making resources known and available in three languages (English, Japanese, Spanish) to scholars who are researching Japanese migrants to the United States and Latin America. Karen brought a copy of the database that APAS has collected with the assistance of Abigail Aballe, our student worker. This database contains detailed information about holdings in Arizona libraries and archives related to Nikkei in Arizona. This database is available online on our website, which is a portal on the Nikkei Legacy network. There is more information about this collaboration here. More>>

"Surviving Katrina and its Aftermath" NSF Grant
APAS Associate Professor Wei Li is co-lead principal investigator
with APAS affiliate faculty member Angela Chia-Chen Chen on a National Science Foundation Human and Social Dynamics Division Small Grant for Exploratory Research. The grant, entitled "Surviving Katrina and its Aftermath," will fund research about the impact of Katrina and its aftermath on Vietnamese Americans and African Americans in the Village l’Est and Versailles in New Orleans.  More>>
