Essential Functions:
Assist the American Indian Studies program Assistant Professor James Riding In with various activities related to the Wicazo Sa Review, an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the mission of assisting Indigenous peoples of the Americans in taking possession of their own intellectual and creative pursuits. The RA will assist in manuscript reviews, editing, writing and research related to the journal.
Qualifications:
Must be regularly admitted to a Master's or PhD program on the Tempe campus. Applicant should have proofreading, writing, summarizing and editing skills, ability to function under strict deadlines, desktop publishing experience as well as ability to interact effectively with scholars. Students from a graduate program in English desired, but may consider other majors.
Deadline:
August 28, 2006 If not filled, weekly thereafter until search closed.

Assist the American Indian Studies program Assistant Professor Susan Miller with various research activities designed to supplement and augment her AIS courses. The RA will also assist Dr. Miller in the classroom as needed.
Qualifications:
Must be regularly admitted to a Master's or PhD program on the Tempe campus. Applicant should have library research skills, summarizing skills, classroom media expertise and the ability to interact effectively with university staff and students. Students from a graduate program in the Humanities desired, but may consider other majors.

Job # 3:
Essential Functions:
Assist American Indian Studies Assistant Professor, Kimberly TallBear, with a research project examining cultural/historical roots of anthropological genetics scholarship focused on the origins of New World native populations. The RA's primary responsibilities will be to review articles and develop an annotated bibliography following an established template.
Qualifications:
Experienced in archival research. Must have experience with interdisciplinary research, ideally an anthropology, history or other humanities graduate student with an interest in the history and culture of science. Candidate should have a basic knowledge of physical anthropology methods and/or history. Understanding of anthropological genetics is a plus, although Dr. Tallbear can bring student up to speed on crucial topics. Familiarity with American Indian Studies issues a plus, but not required.
