I am an enrolled member of the Gila River Indian Community. As such, I am the first—as far as anyone knows—Gila River Pima to become a professor of any rank at ASU. This is a distinction that I hold with much honor. I also hold a Ph.D. in philosophy, making me one of only a handful of American Indians with such a degree. My research interests cover the areas of American Indian intellectual history, art and aesthetics, and religious studies. I have published in Wicazo Sa, the Canadian Journal of Native Studies, Art History, Third Text, and Analecta Husserliana. In addition, I have a book coming out in January 2009 titled From the Land of the Sky-Blue Water: Charles A. Eastman, Minnesota, and the World of the American Indian, which will be published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press.
