McKee Scholarship

The Interdisciplinary Humanities Program invites applications.

 

The McKee Scholarship provides two scholarships in the amount of $500. Preference will be given to full-time students completing their junior year. The funding provided by the scholarship will be awarded for the individual’s senior year, to be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters.

Fred Luster, Sr. Scholarships Available!

 

The Fred Luster, Sr. Education Foundation was established in honor of the late Fred Luster, Sr., who was a founding board member of AHBAI and founder of the Chicago-based Luster Products, Inc. The Foundation awards scholarships to cosmetology students and college-bound high school students. Over the past five years, the foundation has awarded more than $90,000 in scholarships.
 
In 1995, the foundation established the Entrepreneurial Leadership Conference, a conference dedicated to providing scholarships and promoting entrepreneurship among the best and brightest African-American college students.

Jacob K. Javits Fellowship

Eligibility: U.S citizen, national, permanent resident. Must demonstrate financial need; Arts, humanities and social sciences leading to a PhD or Master's degree

When to apply: Entering graduate school in 2004/5 or during 1st year of graduate study

Awards: Stipend of $27,500 (3 awards)

Eligibility: US citizen or national. Members of the following groups: Alaska Natives, Black/African American, Mexican American, Chicana/os, Native American, Pacific Islander, Puerto Rican in PhD programs

When to apply: Senior year, following completing of undergrad study, some graduate study completed, enrolled in PhD program but can fully use 3 year fellowship

Awards: $16,000 stipend plus $7,500 institutional award; 3 awards

 

Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellowships

 

Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellowships for Research Related to Education:
Applicants must be candidates for the doctoral degree in any field at a graduate school in the U.S, although they do not have to be U.S. citizens. Dissertation topics must concern education, and all pre-diss requirements must be completed by 6/1/04. Approximately 30 Fellowships of $20,000 will be awarded to support completion of the dissertation. Deadline is Monday, October 27, 2003. Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

 

Sponsored by the US. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education, this program enables students who have limited financial means to participate in study abroad opportunities worldwide. 2002-03 Dean's Council Department Scholarship

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean’s Council awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students on an annual basis. Departments and programs within the college administer the application process. This a $1,000 scholarship for the fall semester, to be awarded by an academic unit to one undergraduate or graduate student who meets the criteria. Application forms are available at the AAS office.

2004 NFL Summer Intern - New York City

 

The National Football League is proud to offer an exciting internship program in the New York City League office. The NFL reigns as America's favorite sport and its popularity keeps growing. No other professional sport involves its fans so thoroughly. From the in-stadium experience to broadcast and print media to the internet, the NFL is clearly America's passion. Join the NFL team in New York City this summer for an exciting and unique experience. Assignments may be available in the following areas: Football Operations and Officiating, Communications & Public Affairs, Information Technology, Marketing & Sales, Finance & Accounting, Consumer Products, Special Events, Human Resources, Media, Legal and Strategic Planning. The summer will include a kick-off with an orientation/training program, a weekly speaker series, field trips, and social/networking functions. The NFL encourages students from a variety of majors and backgrounds to apply to the internship program.

General Guidelines
* We plan to accept 25 interns for the summer program. All prospective interns must be Juniors (e.g., having completed at least two years of college), Seniors or Graduate-level students currently enrolled at and returning after the summer to an accredited college, university or graduate school, and in good standing. Applicants must be legally permitted to work in the United States. International students must  have all visas and employment authorizations prior to the start of the internship.

* Students with a GPA of at least 3.3 will be given first consideration; it is preferred that students have a 3.5 GPA or better in their major.

* Applications must be postmarked no later than February 28th, 2004. Please do not telephone regarding the status of your application. Applicants will be notified no later than April 15th.

* The summer program dates are Monday, June 7th to Friday, July 30th, 2004. The program will require interns to work 5 full days per week (approximately 40 hours per week - 9:00 am-5:00 pm). Interns will receive $500 per week.
