The Second ASU-CAS Workshop on Urban Development and Sustainability
A major achievement of the first workshop in December 2006 was to bring scientists from ASU and CAS together, identify common interests to initiate a working relationship.
For the second workshop, the idea is to give more time to participants to discuss and work on specific subjects,
such as water and ecosystems. We hope in the coming months, joint research papers and joint proposals will be developed
as a result of this face-to-face intensive brain storming exercise. We therefore arranged panel discussions and break-out
sessions throughout the workshop instead of traditional individual presentations. We will also have the chance for a comprehensive
discussion of the concepts and implementation of using a Decision Theatre type space as an interactive decision tool for scientists
and stake holders for critical urban issues such as water supply, air quality, energy supply, transportation and ecosystem services.
