ASU in China

Mars

ASU Professor Phil Christensen has been invited to represent ASU’s Mars related scientific research as the centerpiece of China’s National Science and Technology Week (May 2005). ASU will be the first non-Chinese institution to exhibit its research. ASU’s Mars work will be the focal display and will include full scale models of one of the Mars Exploration Rovers and a Mini Thermal Emission Spectrometer (Mini-TES) like those currently on board the two Rovers that are exploring the Martian surface. This will be the first time these models are exhibited in Asia. Professor Christensen and his team will introduce the latest information about Mars research to Chinese audiences and display the most recent images and data returned from Mars at the exhibition, sent directly from the spacecraft to ASU and then to China.
