ASU in China

China Council:

As part of our larger Global Engagement strategy setting, and in recognition of existing ASU activities in China, as well as advances made during the recent ASU delegation trip to China, the Office of the President has convened a core Office of the President China Council. The initial group is small and is intended to serve as a strategy setting body, as well as a catalytic program and idea generator. A number of the ideas generated by the Council are expected to move rapidly toward further development and implementation at varying scales in cooperation with interested parties throughout the university and wider ASU community.

The Council is charged to help guide ASU’s engagement strategy for China across the university. Its membership is as follows:

  • Claudia Brown, Director, Center for Asian Studies and Associate Professor, History of Art
  • Joe Cutter, Chair, Language and Literature
  • Jiping He, Professor, Electrical Engineering
  • Zhiyong Lan, Professor, Public Affairs
  • Q.Y. Ma, Advisor to the Office of the President on China Affairs
  • Buck Pei, Associate Dean for Asia Pacific Programs, W. P. Carey School of Business

  • Mariko Silver, Director of Strategic Projects, Office of the President
