ASU Art Museum exhibit celebrates the individual, collectively

Beginning this fall, the face of American art is on exhibit in The Americas Gallery of the ASU Art Museum. The dynamic, expansive new presentation of the ASU Art Museum’s permanent collection removes the barriers between North, Central and South American art. Now, rather than categories of nationality and chronology, The Americas Gallery has been loosely arranged into universal themes: Faces, Work and Place/Space. (Two other themes will change regularly.)

As you turn the corner into the newly designed space, the Faces exhibit is a blast of pure, positive energy. Dozens of images of Americans, in wonderful variety, are installed beside, above and below each other, salon-style, on one large wall. The portraits are executed in many media, by artists representing a 200-year period and a range of American nationalities.

For more on this exhibit and others, go to: herbergercollege.asu.edu/museum/. The exhibit is supported by the Arizona Commission on the Arts with funding from the state of Arizona and the National Endowment for the Arts. The ASU Art Museum is part of the Katherine K. Herberger College of Fine Arts.
