The ASU Alumni Association, like the university, has seen tremendous change in the past two years. There's new direction, new vision and new leadership that goes hand in hand with ASU's overall transformation. As chairwoman of the ASU Alumni Association board of directors, I am excited and proud to play a role in this evolution.

As alumni of Arizona State University, we should all be proud of the new heights that the university has attained. Whether you graduated in 1954, 1974 or 2004, the value of your degree is rising every day. As ASU has helped you, I say it is time for us all to return the favor. So the question becomes how can you give back to ASU and show your appreciation for the education you received.

I encourage you to join me as an active member of the Alumni Association. Of course, there are outstanding benefits in return for a minimal investment. But being a member of the association should be about more than "what's in it for me?" I encourage you to support the university because you believe in the mission of Arizona State University.

Over the next 12 months, you will hear from the Alumni Association on a more frequent basis. Our goal is to get you involved, keep you informed and reconnect you with ASU. Camaraderie, communication and commitment will guide us in all we do. As alums, you should be the beneficiary of our actions.

There are many ways to show your appreciation to ASU, in addition to financial support. My focus for the coming year is to encourage volunteerism among our alums, to rally our alumni as forceful advocates for ASU, and to provide service through leadership in the association and other boards and councils. We'll be starting new chapters, strengthening our existing chapters, and finding new ways for you to get involved. At the end of the year, we want all alumni to have a way to reconnect with ASU.

ASU has a challenging road ahead. It needs the help of our nearly 280,000 alumni to get there. The university has been there for us. It is time we all give back. Will you join me in support of ASU by becoming an active member of the Alumni Association? Belong because you believe!

Sincerely,

Sister Lynn Winsor ’65
Vice Principal, Xavier College Preparatory
2004-05 Chair, Alumni Association Board of Directors
