Inauguration planning is well under way, and the entire university community is encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that will mark the occasion. The installation ceremony, which will begin at 10 a.m., will be followed by a post-inaugural celebration outside on the Gammage lawn featuring food, entertainment and fun. "Inaugural plans are coming together in a way that will showcase ASU, President Crow and the community," said Virgil Renzulli, vice president of public affairs and chairman of the Inauguration Planning Committee. "This will be an excellent opportunity to hear President Crow's vision for ASU and celebrate our future as a new American university." In addition to the inauguration and post-inaugural celebration, there are several events planned, including a concert on Nov. 5, a higher education issues symposium on Nov. 7, and a brief ceremony during halftime of the ASU vs. University of California football game Nov. 9. There will be a School of Music Collage Concert at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 5 in Gammage Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public, as is the inauguration ceremony Nov. 8. Both events require tickets, which are available through online registration at (asu.edu/inauguration) or may be picked up at the Gammage Box Office. A higher education roundtable Nov. 7 will feature key local and national academic leaders, community leaders and political leaders discussing a variety of critical issues facing higher education in the new millennium. The forum will be broadcast at 7 p.m. that day on KAET-TV/Channel 8. The inauguration
ceremony will broadcast live on KAET and will be Webcast over the Internet. |
