Who we’re seeking
Students applying for freshman admission must meet graduation, aptitude and competency requirements. A freshman is a student who is applying to ASU while enrolled in high school or a student who has not attended college since high school graduation.
Graduation: The student must be a high school graduate.
Aptitude: Students must meet one of the following aptitude requirements:
- 3.0 GPA in competency courses (2.5 - 2.99 considered)
- Top 25 percent of class (top 26-50 percent of class considered)
- ACT 22 (24 nonresidents)*
- SAT Reasoning 1040 (1110 nonresidents)*
*ASU does not require the writing portion of these tests.
Competency: Students are expected to have passed coursework in a broad range of academic areas. Detailed competency standards information is available at the ASU Undergraduate Admission Web site. Some schools and colleges at ASU have admissions requirements that exceed these standards.
