Founders’ Day celebration honors 50th anniversary of university name-change effort
March 18 will be the date for a very special Founders’ Day Awards Dinner, as the ASU Alumni Association honors the classes of 1956 through 1959, who played a crucial role in Arizona State’s campaign to become a university. The event will also honor Lt. Gen. Frank Sackton, an alum, founding dean of the College of Public Programs, and a professor emeritus.

ASU’s West campus is under consideration to receive a designation as a civic “Point of Pride” by the Phoenix Pride Commission. The honor, which is awarded every four years, recognizes a city landmark that evokes a sense of pride among area residents. Voting to determine the next set of “Point of Pride” designations is open to all Web visitors, regardless of location, and continues through March 20.
