Founders’ Day celebration honors 50th anniversary of university name-change effort
March 18 will be the date for a very special Founders’ Day Awards Dinner, as the ASU Alumni Association honors the classes of 1956 through 1959, who played a crucial role in Arizona State’s campaign to become a university. The event will also honor Lt. Gen. Frank Sackton, an alum, founding dean of the College of Public Programs, and a professor emeritus.

The Alumni Association is giving away seven pairs of tickets to the March 18 performance of “Oprah Winfrey Presents The Color Purple,” a soul-stirring musical based on the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the moving film by Steven Spielberg, at ASU Gammage.
