Fall across the Sun Devil nation means that out-of-state ASU fans will be holding game watching parties to cheer the football team to victory. Here are a few of the parties being hosted by alumni chapters and connection groups:

Wine and dine in Napa Valley with Sparky
The Northern California alumni chapter will host its second annual trip to the Napa Valley on Sept. 6 for Sparky’s Summertime Wine and Dine. The event will feature a tour, tasting and catered lunch at Judd’s Hill Estate, property of ASU alum Judd Finkelstein, along with visits to other wineries along Napa’s Silverado Trail.

New York alums learn to like Ike at Aug. 21 event
Alumni from the Greater New York chapter will watch former Sun Devil baseball player Ike Davis as he plays for the Brooklyn Cyclones as they take on the Lowell Spinners on Aug. 21.

Sports Illustrated names ASU athletics program No. 1
On the strength of three national titles and multiple conference championships, Sports Illustrated is lauding ASU as having the top ranked athletic department for 2007-2008.

Sun Devil athletes go for the gold
Tune in to the 2008 Olympics in Bejing and you may just see a Sun Devil winning a medal! Former and current ASU athletes competing in this year’s summer games for Team USA include field athlete Trevell Quinley and heptathlete Jacquelyn Johnson. Sun Devils who are competing for their home countries include diver Joona Puhakka, who is competing for his native Finland; track stand-out Joel Phillip of Grenada; track athlete Marcus Duncan of Trinidad and Tobago; and Mohammed Madwa, a freestyle swimmer from Kuwait.

 

Financial support helps reinstate men’s swimming
Vice President for Athletics Lisa Love announced July 15 that the athletic department was fully reinstating the sport of varsity men’s swimming due to financial support from various donors across the globe.
