"Growing great alumni" — this is the theme for the Alumni Association Medallion Scholarship. We have redesigned our scholarship program to provide significant financial aid and meaningful experiences for outstanding students.

Winners of the University Scholarship are eligible to apply for the Medallion Scholarship. Teams of alumni evaluate the applications and select the top applicants based on leadership, participation in extracurricular activities and community service. The alumni selection panel interviews the top applicants and selects twenty-five students for four-year renewable scholarships of $2,250 annually, in addition to the University Scholarship of $2,000.

The Association does not just give the recipients a check and say "See you in four years." Medallion Scholars must contribute volunteer hours to the Alumni Association and maintain high grades. The most exciting part of the program is the alumni/student mentorship component. An alumnus is paired with each student to meet periodically and provide encouragement, commiseration and maybe a free meal.

The success of the Medallion Scholarship program depends on active alumni participation. You can help by:

  • Serving on one of the application evaluation teams. It takes about four hours and is only once a year.

  • Acting as an alumni mentor. Mentoring requires a little time, a little compassion and a desire to help a neophyte Sun Devil. (Is that a Sun Imp?)

  • Getting Sparky plates for every car you own. Scholarship monies mainly come from the $17 we receive for every Sparky plate.
  • The student you help may just be that next great alumnus or alumna.

    Thank you,
