President's Letter
Welcome to this
special expanded issue of ASU Magazine!
School is back in session and Arizona State University is
celebrating a number of successes.
Our enrollment is 63,278,
the largest in the country, and our freshman class is larger, smarter and better
prepared than ever. We are also proud of the increasing diversity of these new
Sun Devils. We’re welcoming a number of these new freshmen to an entirely
new campus, as the Downtown Phoenix campus opened its doors in mid-August.
As the university’s president, Michael Crow, begins his fifth year at the
helm, we’ve prepared a section that takes an in-depth look at the changes
that have transformed ASU over the last four years, as well as a profile that
provides a closer look at what drives President Crow. We hope
you enjoy learning

more
about how the university has accelerated its development, and more about Dr. Crow, who is the architect of
the “New American University” concept.
With
three-quarters of ASU’s alumni base under the age of 45,
we’ve also added a new section catering to our most recent
graduates, entitled “Fork
in the Road.” We think the name of the section is appropriate, as the first
few years out of college are often filled with a number of significant life decisions.
We aim to connect our alums to each other by featuring advice in these stories
from alumni who have been in similar situations.
ASU Magazine exists to serve you, the alumni, and to keep you connected with
your alma mater. Please let us know how we can enhance your alumni experience,
either in this publication or through any of the events and services we offer
to members.
