James Roosevelt image

James Roosevelt
1973-2008
James Roosevelt, who served as our NorCal Chapter President for the past few years, passed away on March 9th at the age of 34. I'm sure some of you knew James personally and more will likely remember him from our chapter activities and communications over the years. We'll always remember him as a fun loving, outgoing, vocal and extremely loyal Sun Devil alum devoted to helping others. James was a Bay Area native, attending Bellarmine Prep in San Jose and working as a development director for organizations like the San Jose Reparatory Theater and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara. Since his graduation from ASU in ’97, James was extremely active in the ASU Alumni Association serving as president of both the NorCal and Orange County chapters. James was instrumental in organizing many of the events our chapter has enjoyed, most recently Sparky’s Touchdown Tailgate party at Stanford in September. Last summer, James was forced to step aside from his leadership role after a debilitating shoulder injury left him unable to actively participate with the chapter.

The ASU Alumni Association will remember James with a book scholarship for an incoming freshman from Northern California and hope to establish a tuition scholarship in the future. Please join me in keeping James and his family in your thoughts and prayers. If you wish to send a card or other expression of sympathy to his family, they can be reached at: Mike & Alexia Roosevelt, 1016 Mandina Way, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
