What kind of recruiting do you do for your company?
I am the college recruiter for the Chase Retail Management Development Program for the Retail Consumer Line of Business. I also coordinate this program in 11 other markets in the U.S.
Who is your company's ideal recruiting candidate?
For the Retail Management Development Program, I need a candidate with a strong focus and drive for sales and customer service. Also, in the financial industry, customer trust is key, which makes a candidate's character and integrity an important part in receiving an offer.
What strengths do Arizona State University graduates bring to the hiring table as job candidates?
Most ASU graduates I've interviewed are looking for a career, not just a job. They have realistic expectations of getting their foot in the door to work hard for a successful career path.
What can current students or alumni do to improve their chances of finding work with (or through) your company?
Be prepared and proactive! Before giving me or any recruiter a call, apply online and research or “Google” the company. Know what you want to do and why you want to work for Chase.
Also, improving your chances is to know someone specific to talk to, so give me a call … but have the previous questions answered!
Any other job hunting secrets you'd like to share?
Everybody knows somebody and a candidate on the job hunt should view anyone they meet as a potential connection. In a coffee shop, elevator, airplane, baseball game, etc., there is opportunity to be found, if you’re engaged and willing to put yourself out there. |
