IMPORTANT
IMMIGRATION REGULATIONS Do NOT enter the U.S. on a tourist visa, visa waiver or border crossing card. You must enter the U.S. as an F-1 student. The I-20 and I-94 card (the white card you get when you come through immigration) are very important. Do not lose them! ALL F-1 students in language programs must study full-time (21 hours per week). Students who are not registered full time are violating immigration laws. It is your responsibility to be a full-time student throughout your stay in the United States. The AECP Student Advisor will help you if you have any questions about immigration regulations. F-1 students cannot work off- campus and must meet AECP eligibility requirements to receive work permission for on-campus employment. WHAT TO PACK
The immigration (INS) officer will take page one of your I-20 and will return pages three and four (student copy) to you. You will also be given a white card which is the I-94 arrival/departure record. This card will be stapled into your passport. This card is very important. It shows the date you arrived in the U.S., your admission number, your status (F-1) and how long you are allowed to stay in the U.S. (D/S - duration of status). Review the documents returned to you to make sure that the information is correct. TRANSPORTATION
