USI 801–04: Petitioning, Distributing, and Posting Literature In and Near the Memorial Union

To provide guidelines for petitioning, distributing, and posting literature in and near the Memorial Union

Petitioning

No petitioning may be conducted in the Memorial Union (MU), including under the eaves and overhang areas adjacent to the entrances.

Distributing and Posting Literature

Distributing and posting literature is allowed in the MU as defined below.

Only recognized university organizations and departments will be allowed to post materials in the MU. Items must be reviewed and approved by the MU administrative office before posting.

Commercial posting is only allowed in or on any part of the MU with permission from the MU Marketing Department, and only in assigned locations.

All posted material must be advertisements for university-sponsored events or university department services or MU-affiliated business partners.

No materials of any kind may be posted on or in the walls, windows, hallways, or any other unauthorized portion of the MU.

Due to limited physical space, it is not possible to accept all printed information, and when space is available, materials will be displayed on a first-come, first-served basis.
